Chitwan National Park Jungle Safari Tour

Overview

The former hunting grounds of the erstwhile rulers of the country, Chitwan National Park in south central Nepal was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The park covers and area of 932 sq km and is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger and the One horned Rhinoceros among the 50 or so mammals, 526 birds and 49 amphibians reptiles. The Naryani and Rapti rivers provide habitat to the endangered Snouted Gharial, Marsh Mugger and the Genetic Dolphin. The bird population includes the likes of the Paradise Flycatcher, Indian Pitta and parakeets and migratory birds like the Brahminy Duck, Pintail, Bar-headed Geese, Cormorants and other feathered friends from Siberia. The Tharu people who are an indigenous ethnic community who live around the park collect the tall Elephant grass for use during late winter and early spring.
Chitwan is five hours drive from Kathmandu. An old runway strip in Meghauli is also used for charter flights. There are seven world class safari lodges inside the park and numerous other hotels and lodges outside the park. Visitors to the park are taken on jungle safaris on elephant back, jeeps and nature walks as well as boat rides in the Narayani and Rapti rivers. The park headquarters at Kasara is 21Km from Bharatpur which is 20 minutes by air or 146 km by road from Kathmandu.

01 Night 02 Days Itinerary

Day 01 Kathmandu - Chitwan National parks

You Leave from Kathmandu 0700 AM. and Reach Chitwan After four/five hour drive from Kathmandu. You will be pleased to know that you land in the world famous Chitwan National Park. You will be served lunch upon arrival, and a short briefing about the program and our facilities. 3:00 PM.This is the perfect hour to set for journey to the world forest on Elephant’s back. This can be a rare opportunity in your life as you will be able to see the one-horned rhinoceros, several types of deer, monkeys, wild boar, bison, sloth bear, leopard and, if lucky, the Royal Bengal tiger. This exciting ride lasts for 2-3 hours. 7:00 PM.You will be provided dinner in the central dining hall. And, after dinner, there will be slide presentation. One of the experts on Chitwan National Park will provide you data and history of the Chitwan National Park as well as some other topics relating to the wildlife.

Day 02: Chitwan –Kathmandu

5.30 AM In the early morning, there will be a small session for Bird Watching or you can take another elephant ride after early morning tea/coffee. 8.00 AM Breakfast 9.00 AM You find yourself packing your luggage and departing to Kathmandu at 9.40 am.

Kathmandu - Chitwan

Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park 5:30 AM You will be given a wake-up call, then served tea or coffee. This is the perfect time to start for a Nature Walk. On foot, you encounter the real wild nature escapes of the eastern part of the Chitwan. You will come across Sal forest, open grassland and reverie jungle. Our guides will help you know several species of birds, plants and other wildlife that you may want to know in detail. 8:30 AMYou will be served breakfast.9:30 AM Since many tourists visiting Chitwan love to know about elephants, there is a short introductory session. You can learn great many things about these fascinating animals during. For the brave ones, there is even a crash course in riding and taming elephants, of course there will be expert guiding you. After lunch, you can spend remaining hours taking a dip in the pool, or relax on your verandah. Hammocks and the library are at your disposal. 4:00 PM: Now this is the time for canoeing. A traditional dug-out canoe takes you on a silent trip down the Rapti River to view aquatic birds and the animals of the river banks. This is often taken as one of the wonderful experiences one can gain in the Chitwan National Park. Then back to resort through the jungle which is already quiet in dusk. 7:00 PM There will be a Tharu Stick dance performance arranged for you. Tharus are the farmers of the nearby villages in fact they are the indigenous people from the land. They will stage some of their traditional dances, brilliantly designed for tourists.
