The glory of geographical region is its breathless array of flowers. Sikkims geographical positioning has talented it a repository of over 5000 species of flowering plants. Forests of magnolia, blue poppies, primulas, gentians and geraniums produce a spell-binding floral spectacle. Orchids, gladioli, poppies, azaleas and camellias raise the intoxicating assortment. Its nice form of bush ranges from shrubs at ground level to high specimens that set the terrain ablaze in an exceedingly riot of colors.

The first study of the flora of geographical region was undertaken by Sir full general, the noted English plant scientist. Hooker traveled to the interiors of geographical region, together with remote mountain regions in 1848-49. The tropical vegetation, principally on the banks and valleys of the rivers Tista, Rangit and their tributaries, consists principally of figs, laurels, sal trees, ferns and a spread of bamboo. The Temperate Zone has oak, chestnut, maple, birch, alder, magnolia and true fir, at the upper regions, whereas the lower alpine zone has juniper, cypresses and rhododendrons.
